  1. I loved this book. I bought it with a giftcard I got for my birthday. I read through it when I was at a point in my life when I had doubts about God. In a way, God led me to read this book and it helped to open my mind and my heart about God and His love for me. I truly recommend this book.

Those who don’t like these types of books have major challenges to overcome. Cynics etc, don’t even bother. However, if you want to get ideas to better your soul, see what others have done to, in effect, ‘brain storm’ with other Christians, and at the same time feed your soul and keep on the path toward a positive life of God, this is one of the best books – still by far! I’ve seen, listen, lunched and laughed with MVH, and it was because of the success of the Chicken Soup books that I first noticed him. He is a master communicator of uplifting stories – but more than that he inspires you with actual true stories, (not just ‘feel good’ emotions). That is why reading his books, or listening to him has such a great result in our Christian lives.

What is interesting to me is what MVH has in common with Horatio Alger, as his books – the novels of rags to riches through Christian values- the Alger books were very much like the effect one has reading a MVH book. Not only uplifting, (all Alger’s books are uplifting and very powerful in that way), but Alger always explained in his novels HOW a person was successful, and these were more than principles they were great Christian values, as well as examples that someone could duplicate in a different business and move forward, succeed and prosper by following the example of a Christian character. Hansen does the same in his books, and I would recommend you read all the books by any of these authors.

The Cash Boy: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!

Driven from Home: Carl Crawford’s Experience

The Errand Boy: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!

Frank’s Campaign: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!

Luke Walton: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!

    Thank you Mark!

  4. Ok, I know CSFTS books are famous for uplifting and helping through, but i have to honestly say….. IT DID NOT do the same for me. I highly admire what these peope have overcome but it was honestly more than I could handle. I cried through most of these stories and by the end of the book I was more depressed than uplifted. Of course this is just my personal experience with the book but I can say that it helps to remind you that you are not alone and even helps you count your blessings when you think you got it bad. I do recommed this book but I suggest you proceed with caution if you are easily affected by other peoples pain.
