Product Description
The original classic; the best selling guide to proper manners and etiquette.
People who ridicule etiquette as a mass of trivial and arbitrary conventions, “extremely troublesome to those who practice them and insupportable to everybody else,” seem to forget the long, slow progress of social intercourse in the upward climb of man from the primeval state. Conventions were established from the first to regulate the rights of the individual and the tribe. They were and are the rules of the game of life and must be followed if we would “play the game.”

Emily Post’s Etiquette : With Illustrations : Complete And Unabridged

Comments
Emily Post’s Etiquette is an excellent reference book. Some of the topics and suggestions can be quite dated, it was originally published in 1922, however it is delightful to read and the guidelines are generally true in any era.

Nice blog you have
Although I realize that many of the topics discussed in the book are forgotten they are by no means unimportant. I have been searching for a guide in order to re-establish lost standards of etiquette and rules governing lady-like behavior for raising my daughter. I found this book most helpful, and I would argue we would all be a little better for reading it. Progress does not mean we should lose manners or forget how to be polite.

I expected an updated version that would actually be helpful in today’s world–not an “antique” published in 1922. It is, however, good for a few laughs!
