ya i know it got awards but this is the most horrible, sick, boring, etc etc, movie i have ever seen . real waste of time. if stupid and throwing someone in a shredder is your idea of comedy than be my guest and the dialogue and phony swedish accents is like nails on a chalk board.

To put it simply:

There isn’t a lot to say about this amazing movie that hasn’t already been said don’tcha know..? It has a perfect cast and an amazing drollness about it that cannot be put into words.. either you get it or you don’t. There is only one instance in this movie that if I were editing would have been cut – Margies lunch with ‘Mike’. I suppose the humorous point is supposed to be that Asians can talk like folks from the north; but it came off as exhaustive filler.
So.. what’s with all the grain ya? Well, I’ve never seen anything like this. Whether it’s supposed to be there or not it is VERY distracting – the movie is always in motion! The background is always ‘glistening’ with noise and grain.. I for one am going to sell my Blu Ray at some point and just stick with the dvd.. a movie in this genre scarcely benefits from Hi Def anyway, but one that looks like this is even less necessary to own.

This is a dreadful transfer of a terrific movie. Don’t buy this expecting a crisp, clean, sharp, satisfying blu ray experience. Backgrounds appear to be ‘crawling’ with noise. The white out scenes are particularly dreadful. Even the white walls in the buildings are teeming with noise. Faces too. Truly awful. Don’t waste $20 like I did. I can’t quite believe some of the other reviews I have read. This is my favorite movie and probably the worst blu ray transfer I have seen. This is not deliberate grain. When I use photoshop to sharpen an image too much, the image becomes noisy. This is what Fargo looks like on blu ray. The age of a movie does not necessarily affect its success on blu ray. I have many old movies that are stunning after their blu ray transfer. Movies like ‘The Shining’, “2001′, ‘Poltergeist’, “The Life of Brian’, and ‘Amadeus’ all look fantastic on blu ray. These movies are all much older than Fargo. In my humble opinion, a blu ray transfer should look better than the regular DVD version of the film, otherwise, what is the point of spending $20 for a film than only need cost $10-12?
