We purchased this item on Monday, 1/19/09 from Babies R Us. It was on sale for thirty six dollars. My wife and I had shopped around and felt like we got a good deal for the item at that price, but were initially disappointed to discover that it did not fit our sleigh style crib very well because of the way the back part of the musical base is designed. It is clearly designed for a straight, rail-type crib. After some tinkering, I got the mobile to attach to our crib securely, though not in the location I would have liked for it to be.
We liked this item because you can select to have the music play with the mobile spinning OR no music with the mobile spinning. Other reviews had said that the music played too loudly, but I didn’t find the music to be horribly loud. I should say that our child has not been born yet, so perhaps I wouldn’t know if the music is too loud or not.
What I DO know is that as soon as I put batteries in the mobile and pressed the music button, some STRANGE melodies came out of it. Imagine a cat walking across the keys of a piano. It was clearly not music. I turned the base unit off and back on again and the same thing happened. After a few more tries, the mobile seemed to work fine and the music played normally and I even began to think it was just my imagination. This was Monday night. We did not touch the unit at all until tonight (Thursday) and when I pressed the music button, the mobile spun for 3 seconds and stopped. I pressed the button again and the mobile spun for 2 seconds and a few confused notes bleeped out of the mobile before it stopped again. I played with it for the next 15 minutes, trying to get it to work as it had just 3 nights before, but each time I pressed the button, IF the mobile did anything at all, it played a few random notes with a second or two of spinning. Eventually it stopped spinning completely. Before I gave up on it, I decided to test the batteries…all were still brand new and at 100% charge.
So despite the high hopes I had for this product, the one we bought is a piece of junk and is sitting by the door to be returned to Babies R Us this weekend.

This mobile is absolutely not worth the money…Nice colors but other than that it looks cheap and has poor design. I would not recommned it to anyone.

It’s cute, that’s about it. Although it has two volume settings, the lowest is way too loud, even with a fan on in the room. There are four melodies to select from, but none of them are soothing (quiet, then quick, quick, quick). And even with the music off, it’s still annoying as the animals make a click sound as they get to the high spot and spin. And it’s not a consistent clicking sound. There’s a long pause in between a group of ‘clicks.’ I’d much rather have a wind up one like I did with my first two children.

I’ve bought it as a present and could not stay away without opening the pack! The toys are so cute, colourfull, they are smiling and dancing:)I love it so much that even want to birth a baby!:))

We really love this mobile! My 4 yr old loves the remote and he runs away with it all the time. The music and sounds are great and my 7 wk old LOVES to watch the animals go around
