After much research, I declined to buy this item because of the price-fixing that Bose engages in. If you bring this item up on Amazon, delete your cache, and do it again, you’ll find that Amazon rotates between sellers. All at the same price, which is the same price as Target or Best Buy or anywhere else. Obviously Bose has taken advantage of the Supreme Court decision a few years ago that allowed manufacturers to specify a retail price. It may be legal, but outlawing competition is certainly un-American, and I’m not going to purchase anything from Bose. Besides, the Altec Lansing T612 is far superior, has received much better reviews, and is one-third the price.

The SoundDock did not have the quality sound I had expected from Bose. It sure did not sound like $269. I get better sound from a docking station that I bought for $80. The sound was not deep & rich, but sort of “tinny”. My iPhone would not fit the slot with the case on the phone. The power cord has the power adapter in the middle of the cord instead of on the plug end.
Not a very good product to be a Bose. I think people buy Bose because of the name, not the quality

I do salute Bose for their marketing efforts: they make their products appear as the summum bonum of audio technology.
This product is very good. But it is certainly not the best, especially considering the price.
Sometimes I think Bose is targeted at people of the age 60+, whose audio experience is limited to tinny treble and hollow base sounds from transistor radios. In our household, this product is a distant third. Better than this product is the sound system in my 1997 Dodge Dakota (a Pioneer stereo). Even better is my computer sound system (a high-end Mac with Harmon Kardon SoundSticks).

I purchased a Sounddock II player, hoping for a high quality Bose stereo mp3 player. What a horrible mistake. My Bose has already had two major malfunctions involving the docking mechanism – it simply will not dock anything – and I have tried my iPod Touch, and two different iPhone 3Gs. It has had TWO trips back to Bose under warranty for repair of this problem, and still will not work. I consider myself a very fastidious person, and have maintained the device well and have not misused it in any way. It has been stationary on a shelf and not had any movement that might have caused this problem. I am sooooo displeased with this product. Very dissapointed in Bose – I had higher expectations of the company.

We purchased this product in May and within 3 days it died — dead, kaput. We exchanged it for another — in less than a week it died. As if I had no sense, I exchanged it for yet a third one. After all, it’s a Bose — I paid extra for the quality, so this must be a fluke, I thought to myself.
Well, guess what? Our third one just went kaput in the middle of a big Labor Day weekend party!!! These things are J-U-N-K.
