Machine constantly tells you to go the wrong way. You must have a general idea of where you need to go. Traffic warnings are the best feature. For a trucker GPS you would think it would give you location of weight stations.

When comparing this to a less expensive older GPS model (not truck specific), I found the new one lacking. There were ‘no-truck’ routes that were not announced, there are conflicting times and miles… the older GPS being more accurate. Maybe I need to get used to the new, more expensive to know if it is really worth all the money.

Within three days of being on the road with My Garmin GPs,It failed, I mean frozen, when it did come on it ran in a loop. So here I am, new to the trucking industry, heaeded into Montreal, with no gps and very very little French in my vocabulary. Your noy lost until you are in a country where you don’t know the language. I survived. The replacement has worked fine. It still tries to route you through areas that are restricted to big trucks i.e. downtown Atlanta. It needs a button that asks it to find an alternate route once you see it has you on one that you know very well that you can’t take a truck onto. I have no experience with any other brand with which to compare it to.

Great GPS, this is the 3rd one I’ve used and is the best. Can be programmed to show truck routes. I drive Super B in the USA and Canada and this is a helpful tool. I would definately recommend it.

This is my second Garmin purchase. I like being able to switch between my 5th Wheel/Truck combination and the car. It does a good job of routing you in the appropriate way depending on the length, height, and weight of your vehicle. I wish they would drop the price a little on this Garmin but as there does not seem to be any competition out there for this application they kind of got ya. I can not compare this GPS unit with another brand as Garmin has been the only one I have ever used. It is a very well made product and based on my experience with the first one I purchased this brand again. Other people have commented about the time involved updating the maps for a Garmin Gps and I wish they would come up with a better way of doing it. I also think with the price you pay for one of these that lifetime map updates should be part of the deal.
