Absolutely love it! It was my baby’s first puzzle, she got it when she was 1 year, It was too complicated for her at that time. She mastered it when she was probably around 20 months. But now she is 2.5 years and loves all kinds of puzzles. Free time for me and hours of entertainment for her.

I bought it twice. Once for my child a while ago, and just recently for our friends’ baby. It is a wonderful start for babies to put pictures together.

First, the picture of this product is deceptive, leading you to believe that it has only simple 2-4 piece puzzles.

In reality, there are 4 animal shaped puzzles: (2) 2 piece puzzles- the monkey and yellow duck, (2) 4 piece puzzles- the crocodile and a white goose. There are also (2) 6 piece rectangular puzzles: monkeys in trees with bananas and a crocodile and ducks by the pond. The nice thing about the 6 piece puzzles is that the ducks and monkeys are numbered, so it helps the child put the pieces in order. This is useful since all the puzzle pieces are the same shape.

My son loves these! I put all the animal puzzles together as one activity in a baggie and the 2, 6 piece, puzzles in separate baggies, to use as montessori style activities at home. He feels such a sense of accomplishment putting them together and it did increase his fine motor skills.

My child had been showing signs that wooden peg puzzles were fast becoming boring and I was looking for some 2 piece puzzles as a natural progression from wooden fit -in puzzles to jigsaw and I saw these. I purchased them when she was about 14 months old but she would easliy get frustrated at not being able to fit the puzzle. So I kept them aside for a few months and now they are back in action in full force, she loves them. I like them as they have some 2 piece, some 3 piece and 4-5 piece puzzles as well. The pictures are attractive . They seem sturdy enough. Our box is already broken from rough use.But I loved it. Now we will be buying some of the other Infantino puzzles too.

As i said earlier, this product is great for toddlers but not as young as one year.

  5. nctmac Said,

My 2 1/2 yrs old son had a difficult time with the puzzles I had been purchasing for him. He would get really upset with himself, and ignored suggestions I would make in placement of pieces. I happened to come across My First Puzzles at Target. The progession of pieces in the puzzles conviced me to purchase it.

At first my son struggled with the 4 piece puzzle, however, within the week, he was able to quickly put the 6 piece puzzles together. Today I pulled out the puzzle I had recently bought prior to My First Puzzles, which has 12 pieces, and he did it with ease.

There is no doubt in my mind that this product significantly improved his cognitive skills & coordination. The difference in two weeks is amazing! This is the first childrens product (and i’ve purchase a lot!) that kept my son’s interest & was extremely effective in improving his development. I highly recommend this product!
